Our mission is to prepare and inspire all students to enter, succeed in, and graduate from college, and we take pride in supporting our first-generation students and families as they build their legacies.
We invest in our educators just as much as we invest in our students. Every Wednesday, staff engage in professional development, and every team member has a dedicated coach for ongoing support. Math, English, and Science teachers receive a provided curriculum, allowing them to focus on Intellectual Preparation and Student Work Analysis to ensure students thrive.

Founding Story
Established in 2002 as part of the Envision Education network, Envision Academy set out to reimagine traditional learning. Our founders recognized the need for a school that not only challenges students academically but also nurtures leadership, creativity, and a growth mindset. From the beginning, we embraced an innovative approach—one that prepares students for life through hands-on projects, critical thinking, and reflection.
Timeline
- 2002 – Envision Education is founded, launching a new model of deeper learning.
- 2003 – Envision Academy opens its doors in Oakland, welcoming its first class of students.
- 2010 – The nationally recognized Portfolio Defense model is introduced, revolutionizing how students demonstrate mastery.
- 2015 – Envision expands its impact, growing to five schools across the Bay Area.
- Today – Our students continue to lead, innovate, and succeed—proving that education can be both rigorous and deeply personal.
