Since its inception in 2002, ES has achieved outstanding results with its public charter high schools (currently four) in the Bay Area:
100% of our graduates complete the required course sequence for UC/CSU eligibility. Statewide, 25% of African-American and Latino high school graduates take the UC/CSU required course sequence.
Eligibility for UC/CSU admission is based on completing the required courses and a sliding index of GPA and SAT scores. Envision Schools' statistics for UC/CSU eligibility are:
Of all our graduates this year, 94% are UC/CSU eligible;
Of those who qualify for Free or Reduced lunch, 77% are eligible;
Of those who will be the first in their families to attend college, 86% are eligible.
Statewide, 14% of all graduates are eligible for entrance into the UC system and only 29% into the CSU system. For African-American graduates, only 6% are eligible for the UC system and 18% for the CSU system. These numbers are virtually the same for Latino graduates.
In the 2007-08 school year, 73% of all Envision Schools' seniors have been accepted to a 4-year college.
Sample of college acceptances this year: New York University, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, UC Davis, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, St. Mary's, CSU Cal Poly, and USF.
The '07 and '08 graduating classes have garnered over $1,200,000 in scholarship money.
Envision Schools is the only charter management organization in the state of California to be awarded program status by the University of California/California State University, designating all courses as meeting UC/CSU requirements.
Envision is one of only two charter management organizations in the state to receive approval from the California Department of Education for a Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) program.
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) conferred six-year accreditation, the best possible result and a rarity among first-time charter applicants, to both Envision schools that have thus far been eligible to apply.
Three Envision Schools in each of its second years all achieved the highest API gain of any high school in each of their respective school districts. In 2007, an Envision School gained over 90 points while the average San Francisco high school lost 6 points on its API score.
Our pass rates on the California High School Exit Exam - 84% in English and 78% in Math - surpass the state English and Math pass rates.
KQED has chosen City Arts & Technology, our first school in San Francisco, to be featured in their television special on Science Education.
