This past Wednesday at Yoshi’s in Oakland’s Jack London Square, Envision hosted its 2nd annual fundraiser, An Evening with Envision, bringing together our friends, supporters, teachers and students for a night to celebrate our accomplishments and bolster our future.

While enjoying incredible Yoshi’s cuisine and jazz from the Marty Williams Trio, our guests had the opportunity to talk with Student Ambassadors from all three of our schools who spoke powerfully about Envision: these students were far and away the highlight of the evening. Speakers for the evening included Brian, from our Students of Envision series. Brian took to the podium to share his personal story of transformation. He demonstrated beautifully just how much of a difference a great education can make:

On his plans for the future: Currently, I want to got to a 4-year college and major in psychology or sociology so that I can do something that will help people and make the world a better place.  I know that being a part of Envision Education will give me that opportunity. What I didn’t realize however, is how much Envision has prepared me for this journey. The leap I have made from where I was in 9th grade to where I am now in terms of work ethic, motivation, and the tools I need to be successful has been a bountiful leap.

And we are thrilled to announce that An Evening with Envision raised over $300,000, critical support for Envision’s schools, including our first ever middle school opening in Hayward in Fall of 2016.  Thank you so much to everyone who attended this wonderful party.  Your energy and enthusiasm filled the room, as well as our hearts.  With your help, we are well on our way to achieving our 2020 goals of 100% 4-year college acceptance and 90% college persistence: we can’t wait to share our success stories with you along the way!

Check this blog through the year for updates on Brian!
